BOLD (or Breakthrough Overhead Line Design) is a compact, high-efficiency transmission technology created for the power grid of tomorrow. BOLD provides a number of advantages over traditional transmission technologies, including maximizing utilization of right-of-way by increasing power delivery capacity while minimizing structure height; improving siting and permitting by providing a more attractive profile than traditional designs; allowing more power to be routed through existing rights-of-way with little or no need to add additional land; and facilitating long distance transmission with less line loss and more stability.
